In
this suggestive room - characterized by three great arches that form the central framework of the ancient structure (built around
1500) - the great millstones and hand press are
kept.
Another characteristic element of this exclusive apartment is the clarifying room with a semicircular vault in ancient terracotta bricks, where the oil was set to clarify in typical
basins.
The low structure containing the
exclusive master bedroom, a smaller bedroom and bath was originally the pressing room with the donkey turntable used to keep the millstones turning; the kitchen leads onto a stairway that goes directly into the basement room that was the old
ice-house and still keeps the mistery of ancient times.
Another large bedroom with 2 beds and a powder room complete the
apartment, in which the large "frantoio" can be a community room for the
tasting of the typical products as olive oil (I.G.P.) and Chianti
wine.. The ceilings are beamed in chestnut with the typical paneling in Tuscan terracotta.
The Frantoio area is reserved for wine tasting and showroom for local products.
Access is through 4 independent doorways.
